Extended information
The barren wasteland of Korriban is a craddle of darkness. Weary travellers that arrive at the only spaceport on Korriban, Dreshdae, speak of a nameless terror. The very air is soul-less and in its complete barreness it is hostile to all life. Its desert landscape means the planet produces little and imports the majority of its goods.
Dreshdae holds more then simple ghost stories. It was once home to the Sith monastary, where young aspirants from across the galaxy would claw at the doors in desperation for power and glory. Yet only those worthy would enter, and the cries or dispear and anguish are testiment to those who were no strong enough to survive the terrible ordeals or Korriban.
Yet for those that do survive the training they face a great horror. The valley of the Dark Lords has been the resting place for Sith lords since Sith came to being. Thousands of the most powerful Sith lords that have ever lived dot the valleys surface, and it is said that spirits of these Sith are drawn to those who enter the valley. Few ever reach the point where they must enter the valley, and fewer still return from the nightmare.
Korriban is indeed the death world of the Sith, and only a very brave - or very stupid - Jedi would dare to set foot on the planets surface.
With the Republic winning its war against the Sith, Korriban has become an anomly. Neither side can truely say they have a foothold, and the numbers of Sith on the planet are completely unknown.
