Smalls, A New York Jazz Club

1 Conversation

If one has ten dollars (twenty on Saturday nights), a free night in New York City, and an appreciation for the jazz music, Smalls (183 W 10th St, http://www.smallsjazz.com) is a good place to spend some time. For ten dollars, one is entitled to sit in a smoke-filled basement room for as long as one wants between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. and listen to some excellent live music. Smalls lacks a liquor license, but many of the club's patrons opt to bring along their own intoxicants and this practice is not in the least discouraged. If travelling by subway, take the 1 or the 9 to Christopher Street and walk one block north or take the 2 or the 3 (express trains) to 14th Street and go a few blocks south.
